About UsMEC had been a life long dream of Lauralee and Mariel's. Coming from a long line of equestrians; their family has bred thoroughbreds, owned and trained racehorses as well as dressage and hunter jumpers. Lauralee has always been passionate about horses, working on her uncle's farm since she was a young girl, her love for horses became a mission. She has passed down that passion and love to her daughter Mariel, who has been riding since the age of 4 and is our Equine Director and horse trainer. With their combined 65+ years of horse knowledge working with rescues. Carrying on that family tradition they created Momentum Equestrian Center, Ltd, a non-profit rescue facility offering unwanted, ill or neglected horses a second chance for a happy and rewarding life. Working with horses that may suffer with Neurological diseases such as Equine Prolozoal Myeleoncephalilis (EPM), requiring daily prescription medications for 1 to 3 months and supportive drugs to alleviate symptoms and prevent reactions to parasite die-off during treatment. Horses with Soft tissue, Ligament or Tendon injuries require controlled movement and reconditioning rehabilitation. Therapies for such injuries can include Ultra sound treatments, Shockwave therapy and Chiropractic treatments. Severely underweight horses require individual nutritional diet and slow rehabilitative groundwork to increase muscle tone and stamina. As with people, horses also require physical therapy to regain strength and full range of motion. With proper care and training management we can return these horses to a healthy level so they can return to a healthy happy life. As well as working with young horses that have little or no training, others are horses with behavioral issues that can range from bolting, bucking, to the very seriousness of aggression. We approach these types of horses on an individual basis with the type of training they require to achieve the desired results. |
